Active Norfolk and South Norfolk District Council are asking villages across the county to assemble squads of players to compete in different sports varying from Archery, 5-a-side Football, Tennis, Short Mat Bowls, Netball, Table-Tennis, Rounders, Badminton, and Tug Of War at the Norfolk Village Games .
There are 3 games this year with South Norfolk due to stage their first games next summer. Any villages from the district of South Norfolk are welcome to enter a team for any of the following games :
12th September - North Norfolk, Cromer Sports Centre
19th September - Breckland, Watton Sports Centre
26th September - Broadland, Aylsham High School
Please note, participants can enter as few or as many sporting events as they wish, although please bear in mind some of the activities may clash.
The games are being delivered by Active Norfolk and South Norfolk District Council on the back of their successful Norfolk Village Games bid which has secured £577,700 from the £10 million Sport England Rural Communities fund, which was launched after research revealed that two thirds of the local authorities with the lowest sports participation rates are in rural areas.
People of all ages are invited to take part. Villages will be offered taster sessions in a variety of sports at their very own Sports Roadshow. These Roadshows will visit various parts of the county, including locations in the South Norfolk District Council area, especially throughout the summer months next year in the build up to the Norfolk Village Games.
Active Norfolk and South Norfolk District Council are appealing to volunteers to register their interest as Village Team Captains by visiting www.activenorfolk.org.uk/villagegames. We are looking to sports clubs, local business’s and community groups to work together in order to provide representation from their area, and battle it out against other Villages from across the South Norfolk area.
