Village Hall News - Summer 2018

update 2018

Dear Residents

What a wonderful summer we have had this year albeit at times a little too hot for some.

The new children's playground was installed in July. It exceeds my expectations and I am pleased to say that many children have really enjoyed using it throughout the school holidays.

The summer fete was well attended and an overall great success making £400 more than last year. Thank you again to all those who helped out and those who supported us with prizes and donations.

Unfortunately our annual/Flower & Produce Show' had to be cancelled at the last minute due to lack of entries, mainly due to the effects of the hot weather that resulted in poor crop production.

We have had a state -of -the -art fire alarm installed in the Village Hall,
as the old one became defective and not fit for purpose.

In August the clay tiles on rear roof of the village hall had to be replaced as they had become defective allowing rain water to seep into the interior fabric of the building.

The numbers of Shelfanger residents coming to the bar on Mondays and Fridays has increased making a very sociable and friendly atmosphere. With the playground now in place, our focus is now turned to raising £50,000 forthe extension and refurbishment of the bar, and a new outside patio area.

Thanking you for your continued support and hope to see you at one or more of the forthcoming events which are listed opposite.
